Light - Grow light powered by usb power bank
Before I purchase the grow light, I am wondering - how could I power it up when I do not want to have extension cable lying around the house.
Typically, when you shopping for grow light online, they will say something like 10W 20 LED Single Head", which mean the following photo. I only turned on blue light but you can roughly count that there are 20 LED lights and they consume 10W if you powered all on.
So note, the picture below only turns on blue light which has only 7 LED blubs. It will consume less than 10W power.
So, no extension cable for me, what next? Power Bank to the rescue. I need to know if a 10000mAh power bank work and how long it could last.
Theoretically, a 10000mAh can power on a 10W stripe. So, how to calculate? Ask Google..
Google says
Wh = mAh × V / 1000
So, given 10000mAh and 5V power bank, it will have 50 Wh. So, for a 10W stripe, it may last for 5 hours. Sound good.
That is all about theory. In actual test, my 10000mAh power bank at best could run a 10W stripe (meaning turning on both red and blue light at the same time) for 2-3 hours. If I only turn on blue light, which has only 7 LED, my 10000mAh power bank could last for 4 hours. I think, this is good enough.
More importantly, the power bank works!! No extra wiring required.
